I agree with you, Uncommon. Catholic history has it's downsides, though the extent of the pope's power now is much different than it was then. Yes, the inquisition is history, though much more of it was killing non-Christians than Christians that didn't agree with the pope. I thouight your game was great, I just thought the story was a bit contrived. But because the game is basically all story and little gameplay (gameplay is most important to me) the story weaknesses made the game less interesting to me than your others.

Shadowii: Go for it. Who knows, I might have another release...

Drizzle: Well, then, I think it's interesting that you cite PATale as an example of a superior work, since it has no real gameplay, except for one textbox choice, and the story, though it has an interesting presentation, is poo. Eris' characterization is totally nil, Josh and Greg are incredibly loathsome, and... Well, I just didn't like it as much.

All: Out of curiousity, which specific points were predictable? For future reference, if nothing else. If you don't want to spoil it, then PM me.

I noticed that. Aside from the theme of corrupt churches, I noticed the character's names and such are in a similar... style? ^ ^ The theme of heresy reminded me of FFT, too.

Oh, and I might write a review too, seeing you said you might make another release. And I look forward to it. =P

First off, if you think I'm trying to insult you or your game, Uncommon, not at all. I'd like to clear that up completely-- if I came off like that, it was unintended, and I apologize. My criticism was meant to be purely constructive.

As for the Parson's Apprentice Tale, I simply meant that I liked it more in the sense that neither are true games, but Parson's Apprentice had an original story. Gameplay-wise, yes, By the Seventh Book is a much much better game, but it was a story I've heard many times (VERY similar to Grandia 2, though minus some complexities). Parson's Apprentice's Tale was a story I hadn't heard before. I didn't even like the presentation of PAT-- it's modern and old language conflict, especially since the old english is awkward since you often have to force it to rhyme. Originality was really all I was talking about. I enjoyed PAT more (especially since I just replayed Grandia).

I knew you weren't trying to insult me or the game, I was just trying to get clarification. And, yes, many of the couplets in PATale are awkward, and I noticed that after I released it (I also didn't have a clear meter decided when I wrote the prologue, if you picked that up). The story may have been original, but I still don't really like it... Shrug.

Yes, Pictomancer, review it to your heart's content. In fact, anyone who wants to has full right to, should they wish to take advantage of it. And, yes, it was mostly the heresy part that influenced me.

Anticipate an update some time after Easter (possibly a full month, who knows). This means I get to force Frick to remake the tiles! Huzzah! I'll prolly also add music, too...
