It's kinda funny, how many people believe in Santa, when they are too old for that kind of crap. I made a song about it, but you probably don't want to hear it.

Well, anyway, Merry Christmas! Christmas is the goodest ( Happy ) holiday ever! Jesus is Master! I am Christian.

So, let the hymns be sung, the prayers be answered, and the miracles fly.

(PS. Jesus kicks Santa's ass!)

Not to throw you off or anything, but is "goodest" a word?

Just curious.

That's funny, Eggie, since the amount of improbability that appears in the stories of Santa is comparable to the amount of improbability of most Christian mythology, or of any religion for that matter.
Basically what I mean is I could say that I was too old to be believing in that crap that is Christianity.
Don't mean to insult religions or anything (I have no problem with Christianity, don't worry), but that IS true.
Santa can be considered to be an addendum to the Christian tradition, a conglomeration of Christian and "pagan" beliefs, or a religions practiced exclusively by the younger members of society. Taking the latter into account, saying Jesus kicks Santa's ass is like saying Zeus would kick Horus' ass. It's all a matter of what faith you prescribe to.

Santa and Jesus are almost completely unrelated in this day and age. The only similarity is one holiday shares "beliefs" in them both.

And I think the Happy after the "goodest" was to mean he wasn't serious.

Perhaps I should've put a Raspberry! after my post, indicated that I wasn't serious as well.

Raspberry!

.....okay...didn't expect the thread to get this far-fetched, even though I knew it had (as Duff told me the other night).

Personally (and this is just my opinion), I think it's quite sad how resistant some people are to such small things. One year ago from now, you could say "Merry Christmas" to someone, and they'd wish you one too. Now, people freak out over it because the word "Christ" is in it?

There's nothing wrong with saying His name, and quite frankly, I'm glad some of you were convicted when you saw it. Have fun over the holidays! Cool

Well, I for one have no problem whatsoever with the name Christmas. I have no problem with the holiday, aside from my loathing of the overcommericalization that I notice whenever I go Xmas shopping. Xmas is all good.
And PHC, my phrase "the crap that is Christianity" was not intended to insult Christianity. Rather, it was to illustrate my point that Eggie's statement was easily takne advantage of.

Here, PHC.

ex·am·ple
n.
1. One that is representative of a group as a whole: the squirrel, an example of a rodent; introduced each new word with examples of its use.
2. One serving as a pattern of a specific kind: set a good example by arriving on time.
3. A similar case that constitutes a model or precedent: a unique episode, without example in maritime history.

4. A punishment given as a warning or deterrent.
5. One that has been given such a punishment: made an example of the offender.
6. A problem or exercise used to illustrate a principle or method.

I've looked over the thread a few times. What, exactly, are you responding to with that?

I suspect a malfunction of the (limited) higher brain functions.

Well, that's another part of Santa. You see, he's basically a conglomeration of characters from several religions. His gift-giving/children-loving part obviously is from St. Nicholas, but a lot of other stuff is from Odin. For example, both of them were bearded.

Jesus and Hitler both had facial hair! Conincidence? I think not!

Odin didn't, pathetic fool. Odin used Sleipnir, his six legged warhorse. Your connection of Santa = Odin is a horrible failure.

Edited to fix typos because MWC is anal.
