Many years ago, the Critters, creatures similar to humans, fought with the humans. Through out this war, a little blob named Abott became seperated from his family.... Critters is a game about a blob named Abott. He was abandoned when he was young by a river and a Mother Planta adopted him and took care of him. When he grew older, his Mother Planta decided that it was time for Abott to know about his past. Abott finds out he is not a Planta. Mother Planta then tells him he should go to the Academy to talk to the master. He does, and his is asked if he wants to go explore and find his family. But he would prefer not to. But the master of the Academy tells him he needs to be a hero and he needs to go save the world. So, he sets off to do so!

Critters is a little game that did not intrest me too much, but I still found it amusing to play. Abott is your main characther, a blob with a hat and sunglasses. I found a few of the concepts in this game to be quite amusing. The plotscripting is done well, and there is humor here and there. Abott has to first travel to the Moss Caves and go to the New Aqua town to supposidly save the town from a wizard and his little army. As you reach the middle of the cave, you will find a person sneaking TNT through the caves. When you reach the final room, you will face the wizard and his little army of people with snake bodies. You fight him and you have to blow up the creatively blended TNT to beat him. After, the wizard and his army runs away and you leave the cave. You then head off to New Aqua Town, which is a little hard to find. Then you find one of the soliders who were with the wizard. You then demand an explanation and he tells of the Moss Caves containing some sort of power that the Wizard was trying to harness, and he wasn't after the town. Then you head east and come across this one place that looks like a dock with someone working on a ship. I couldn't get through from there.

Scores:
Graphics: The graphics are very nice, but I felt there were a bit dark. It could have been brighter. The hero and enemies were okay. There was also a lot of variety in maps.
8.0/10
Music: I didn't really like the music. Plus, in some battles, there were no songs and the overworld had no music at all. But I feel the music was original, so more points.
6.0/10
Storyline: The story was a bit confusing and I got lost at times. The story advances along nicely. The plot is a bit of something I've seen before.
5.5/10
Gameplay: The battles are aren't very difficult but it takes time to gain experince and money. The attacks are pretty good, and the morph skill is pretty creative, but the normal attack and the morph skill does about the same damage. Most of Abott's stats are just 5. Most of the enemies are also destroyable in just one hit. The game speed is fine. The inn is cheap but to get weapons and armor, you need to get quite a bit of money. I also couldn't find two of the characthers that could equip some stuff. The game was also only 30 minutes aproximate.
8.0/10
Overall (Not an average score): If the game was longer and had more of the creative battles and skills it had along with music that isn't as dull, plus it was longer, it would be more entertaining. This game is worth some time playing.
8.5/10
