The Story

Far away, far beyond the solar system we live in, farther than the
farthest star we can see on earth, there is the planet of the
Penguinias.The Penguinias are almost exactly like normal earth
penguins, except they are far more intelligent. These creatures can
speak, and do much, much more...

 These creatures are a peaceful race, but sometimes trouble arises.
In this case, an elite squadron of Penguinias are called upon:
The Planetoid Penguins.
The Planetoid Penguins possess a fleet of airships, boats,
rocket packs, and other items that they use when they are called upon.
No trouble has arisen for a long time now, so the three best-known members of this army...
Spike, Flip, and Cooly...are taking a well-deservd rest. However, it won't last long...

In a huge building near the coast, is the headquarters of the mighty Planetoid Penguins.
Nothing is happening, and the three penguins mentioned earlier are getting slightly bored.
Spike, the leader of the Planetoid Penguins, sat in an armchair, yawning. He was really
rather old, but didn't look it. He wore a red helmet with black spikes protruding from it,
and also red shoulder pads.
Flip, who loved to do various kinds of stunts, was seated nearby
on a large couch. He was just like any other Penguinia, except for some odd reason his
eyes had grown to a ridiculously large size. His eyes were heavy now, and he was almost asleep,
as was his friend and comrade, Cooly.
Cooly considered himself to be the most dashing of the quartet. He always wore a pair of
shades, and always remained cool in a tough situation.
These three made up the famous elite Planetoid Penguins, whom every young Penguinia admired...

Farther still from the planet of the Penguinias was the space station.
It was an old wreck, something left over from the Penguinias attempts to colonize space.
It had ended in failure when a giant meteorite crashed into the side of the gigantic vessel,
rendering it useless.
Now it served as the base of Polar.
There he sat in his huge throne, tapping his
flippers against the arm rests. He wore a special crown of silver on his head,
a crown which resembled three leaves with razor sharp edges. Polar felt one of the three
tips of the leaves, noting with satisfaction that it was sharp as a razor. Polar, the
Penguinian outcast. Polar, the most vile of the Planetoid Penguins. Polar, the king of the Hoots.
Perhaps an explanation is in order.
Polar was different right from the start. He had been born with huge talons on his feet,
and stranger still, with teeth! Yes, Polar was the only known Penguinia to possess
jagged, razor-sharp teeth.
He had been a member of the Planetoid Penguins, until the day he got just
a little too trigger-happy and destroyed an entire city (which he was trying to protect).
After this, he was banished to a maximum security prison.
The diabolical bird escaped however, taking with him an army of owl-like creatures
called Hoots, who had also been locked up.
Hijacking a rocket, the vile penguin flew to the space station, where his
new army set about repairing the gargantuan vessel.

Many years later, it had been turned into an armed ship, and Polar intended
to use its weapons to the fullest extent. He desired to get rid of the meddlesome Penguinias,
who had ruined his plans for world domination.

All these events were unknown to Bill, a young penguin who lived just next door to the PP HQ.
He sat in his cozy house, prepraring to savor a tasty snack: pickles! As he opened the jar and
was filled with the anticipation of biting into a crunchy pickle, something peculiar happened.
A Hoot broke into Bill's home and proceeded to snatch the jar and fly off with it.
Bill angrily stormed out of his house, determined to beat the bird silly. And so it began...

The Characters

Spike- The leader of the Planetoid Penguins...

Flip- This odd penguins seems brain-damaged, perhaps a result of the stunts
he performs day-in and day-out!

Cooly- This penguins always wears top-notch shades.

Bill- He was only trying to enjoy a snack. Was that too much to ask?

Skipper- This old seabird lives in a small cottage near the Planetoid Penguins HQ.

Klobber- Yes, even I am in this game. This game has everybody! I'm sure
it doesn't have any other people you know, though.
Especially not the President. And I'm sure it doesn't have Elvis. Yes, I'm sure...

Polar- This insane bird wants to take over the world, and he just might be able to do it...

Larpa- This hippie bird has actually tye-dyed himself and has
painted a peace sign on his stomach...and he's filthy rich!

Inferno- This gigantic fire bug hails from the isle of Hauntopia,
a gloomy place which is fittingly located next to Polar's own Gloom Island.

Gloggle- This monster can tranform into many different elements: water, lava, and ice,
just to name a few...

Scree- This bird, who always wears a skull on his head, may be small,
but his quick speed and ninja-like reflexes make him deadly.

Coin Eel- This slithery creature loves shiny things, like Skipper's prized coins...

Val Venus- This Venus Fly Trap seems to have a taste for penguins...

Chief RedRear- The bossy chief of police patrols the town of Iceburg, pretending he actually knows what he's doing. He should be considered a threat, despite his dim attitude.

Cerebellum- Polar's chief science technician sure has bad luck. As a result of his seemingly jinxed lifestyle, he is very skiddish...which makes him doubly dangerous.

Klobber- Yup, somehow I managed to wind up in this game, too.

Kaboom- Klobber's brother (in the game only, I really don't have a brother...) who is obsessed with weaponry. Will sell you any weapon he can find, but charges outrageous prices. Hey, he's got the market covered...

Fango- This vile cobra inhabits the desert island of Arabicia, hoping to catch an easy meal of penguin meat. Yuck.

Tarkeeta- This race of alien creatures are very mysterious, and no one knows if they are good or bad, or even if they exist for that matter. You shouldn't worry too much about
them...or should you...?

Jake- Polar's robotic duck-thingamabob, or something. Should be regarded as an extreme health risk, due to the missle launchers, lasers, bombs, explosives, etc. he is armed with.

Terros and Inka- These twin terrors live deep in the ocean...and that's all I'll say. Ha! I won't even tell you that they're giant squid-whooops...

Rob the Robin- Sleepy-headed Rob runs the store just outside Bill's home.

Laddo- This innkeeper runs his 'pitiful establishment' night and daym despite the fact that it poses numerous risks to a body's health.

There are of course many more characters, but we'll save that for the guide, won't we? Either that, or find them yourself, 'cause the guide won't tell you everything...

Battles

The sun rises. It's inevitable. Rain falls. It's inevitable. Owls swipe talking penguin's jars of pickles. It's-oh, wait...

Just as (most) all of those things are inevitable, so is it inevitable that you will have to layeth the smacketh down on several bad eggs. Battling is a simple matter of using attacks and items until you, hehe, KLOBBER your opponent, or until you yourself get, hahaha, KLOBBERED. It sounds simple. It's not. Especially when you're going up against major foes like Terros the Giant, ah, the giant football. Yup, football. Let's, ah, move on, shall we?

Select Locales
*
Ploom Island- A tropical island that houses the HQ of Rareware. Oh, that's not right at all! I meant, the HQ of the Planetoid Penguins. Haha.

Gloom Island- The polar opposite of Ploom Island (get it, haha). This mysterious island, which is very mysterious, is home to several mysteries, which are, shall I say, mysterious. Mysterious, ain't it?

Arabicia- A desert island home to Fango the Cobra and some myster-oh, wait, mysterious, that's Gloom Island. Er, home to some, secretive pyramids. Yeah, secretive.

Mosquito Island- A swamp island that's-you guessed it-infested with termites. Er, mosquitoes.

Iceburg- Bill's hometown. Note the clever use of the word Iceberg, heheh, Iceburg, get it, like Gettysburg, or something. Hahaha.

Iceberg- Not to be confused with Iceburg, this mass of floating ice rests between Gloom and Ploom Island. It seems that Polar would like a freezing place like this. I don't know why, but it sure seems like that!

Hauntopia- Connected to Gloom Island by a bridge, Hauntopia is actually a false island, a mechanical island, if you will. It floats on the surface of the water. If you could sink it, you'd probably due some damage to strategic locations on Gloom Isle which are located close to Hauntopia. All this and more, plus it's haunted and home to the fiery insectoid Inferno! Mwa ha ha!

There are more locales. But I'm not telling. Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah. Thpphth! :P

Items

Bill and company will find loads of items on their adventure. Here are just a few...

CrocodileAde- This sports drink was produced by a biotechnician in the PP HQ. It recovers HP, but so far the only flavor produced is trout. Eeeyuck. Plans are being made for a new flavor: french fried fruit-flavored fish...riiight...

Bazooka- This bazooka, sold by the enterprising Kaboom, is just like any other bazooka in every way. Except it shoots rolls of toilet paper. *Cough*

Bomb- Packs a wallop. Good for blowing up baddies and escaping jails. Not that you'd ever need to escape jail, of course.

______________________________________

Enemies

Yes, enemies. What more can I say? They fight ya. Here are just a scant few of the little buggers. I don't think even the Orkin Man could squash all these foes, some of which are quite formidable.

Hoots- They come in all shapes and sizes, those darn Hoots, and some of them pack some pretty nasty weapons. Most of them are more of an annoyance than a threat, but it's the tougher ones that you should watch out for, such as Baz-hoo-ka, who fires a bazooka like nobody's business (and this one, hehe, it don't shoot toilet paper. Oh, no).

Adder and Subractor- These two snakes are some of the first minor baddies you'll run into. They aren't much of a threat, and even if they were, you could run away for them. Good for building up experience early in the game.

BooBoogie- This ghastly ghost inhabits a dreadful area of the game.

BooBall- A bouncing blob of ectoplasm, also good for experience points early on.

Mission Area

At some point you'll have to visit the Mission Area, which is located on a meteor that orbits Polar's space station. It is here that you'll complete various missions to ensure that Polar gets the heck beaten out of him. Missions start of easy but become harder as the game progresses. You may have to beat one mission to unlock the next one. Beating a mission requires that you complete certain objectives. You'll learn more about the Mission Area when you visit it in the game. Something tells me it's gonna be very important.

Larpa's Tips

(To save you the trouble of translating such hippie-phrases as, "Butterfly wing powder," I have done so for you. There now, don't you feel special? :)

1. When in doubt, visit an area you've already been to. You never know what will have changed since you last visited there.

2. Talk to EVERYBODY, man! Many penguins aren't just there for the sake of walking around and talking to you. A lot of them will offer you advice or give you something, and they seem to have no qualms about talking to total strangers. So start-a-yakkin!'

3. Level up, it helps. If you're having trouble beating a particularly nasty enemy, fight weaker enemies until you get enough EP (Experience Points). Sometimes a little more HP or PP (Penguin Power) can make all the difference, not to mention the other increased statistics such as speed, attack, and defense.

4. Save often, and use different slots. Using different slots ensures that you can go back and do something different.

5. Watch for clues. Many times I will foolishly drop a hint about a secret character or some other secret thingummy, so take heed. Some things, however, are too secret for me to even remotely hint about...and stop trying to find some vague hint in the sentence I just said, you young rogue.

6. Stock up on supplies. It never hurts to pack an extra doohickey. A bomb or two (or any other item for that matter) could make all the difference when you find yourself in a tough situation.

7. Look at stuff. Simply walk up to something and press ENTER. You can't closely observe EVERYTHING, but you might want to read a sign or examine a bookshelf.

8. Conserve PP. Extra PP will come in handy when you need to cure someone or the enemy is near vanquished. Let loose with that powerful attack and blow him outta the water. Take that, slimeball!

9. Visit Klobber Karnage, my official web site, where you'll find info about Planetoid Penguins as well as all my other games. You never know when I (or someone else) will divulge some info. Check there often, but don't expect me to go listing every secret just yet...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note: This is a demo, not the full game. I'm nowhere near
done with the full game. Many aspects will change, including but not limited to:
-Graphics (better graphics)
-Music (more classical and rag songs, and more original pieces. These will likely replace
some of the temporarily used ripped music, don't worry about that.)
-Plotscripts (more of 'em)
-Character and Enemy Stats (HP, MP, etc. will be balanced a bit more.)
-Items (a few things changed)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

About

Music- Includes classical and ragtime tunes, as well as songs from TV shows and
movies, and also melodies from other games. Also included will be original tunes, composed
by myself, including 'The Wonders of Space', 'The Day They Came', and more.
